The 5th International Otolith Symposium is held in October 2014 on Mallorca, Spain.
Otoliths are calcified tissue in the ears of fish. Otoliths contain information about the age and life story of the individual fish and are used as a source of information for biologists assessing the condition of fish stocks.
The aim of the symposium is to explore the use of otoliths and other calcified tissues as tools to support management and the formulation of a definition of indicators at environmental, community, population, and individual levels.
Senior researcher Karin Hüssy, DTU Aqua is a member of the Sterring Committée of the symposium.
