Dana is on a cruise in the Baltic Sea from 27 October to 13 November 2014.
The cruise is part of the Baltic International Trawl Survey (BITS) coordinated by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, ICES.
During the cruise, data on fish and shellfish stocks is collected. Each country which takes part in the survey collects data in different areas of the seas. Finally all data is gathered and processed giving a snapshot of the area.
Among other things, the results are used by ICES for formulating biological advice on fish and shellfish stocks. The advice contributes to the setting of fishing quotas and other regulations of the fisheries.
