The BONUS Symposium will be held 17-19 October 2017 in Tallin, Estonia. DTU Aqua has leading roles in the BONUS projects organizing the symposium.
The BONUS Symposium "Science delivery for sustainable use of the Baltic Sea living resources" takes place on 17-19 October 2017 at Tallinn University Conference Center, Estonia.
From DTU Aqua Head of Section, Senior Researcher Stefan Neuenfeldt is a co-convener at the symposium and Instiute Director, Professor Fritz Köster is a member of the scientific steering committee. Both have leading roles in the BONUS BIO C-3 and INSPIRE projects organizing the symposium: Stefan Neuenfeldt as principal investigator in the BONUS INSPIRE project and Fritz Köster as co-coordinator of the BONUS BIO-C3 project (se fact boxes). Furthermore, Fritz Köster is the chair of the overall BONUS Steering Comittee.
BONUS is the joint Baltic Sea research and development programme for years 2010-2017.
Symposium aim
The symposium will summarise and synthesise the recent scientific findings by providing:
- new evidences on the spatio-temporal dynamics of Baltic Sea biodiversity at various levels of organisation, and its relationship with changing environmental conditions.
- new basic knowledge on the ecology of the main commercial species—cod, herring, sprat and flounder, incl. habitat requirements, connectivity, migrations, species interactions and impact of external drivers.
- improved assessment methods and tools for the management of marine living resources, thereby assisting to address several regional (HELCOM) and EU legislative frameworks.
Participants
Presentations from BONUS INSPIRE, BONUS BIO-C3 and other BONUS projects, as well as beyond BONUS and the Baltic Sea are welcome.
