Per Bruun Brockhoff is working with applied statistics and statistical method developments in a broad sense  - as well in research as in industrial relations. He has especially high experience in the use of statistics/data analysis within food science and the food industry including chemometrics and within the pharmaceutical industry. Within the field of Sensometrics, that is, the analysis of sensory and consumer data, Per Bruun Brockhoff has expertise on highest international level.

Per Bruun Brockhoff is Professor in statistics at the Statistics and Data Analysis Section at DTU Compute and as of May 1st 2017 Head of Department. He was Ms.C. in statistics from Department of Mathematics, University of Aarhus, Denmark in 1991 and Ph.D. in statistics from Dep. of Mathematics and Physics, The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Denmark in 1995. During the period 1995-2004 he was assistant and associate Professor in statistics at the same department until September 2004, where he started as Professor at DTU Informatics. From 2008 to 2013 he was Section Head for the Statistics Section of the
former DTU Informatics department.

He was guest researcher in 6 months at  University of California, Davis and similarly 6 months at CSIRO, Sydney, Australia. Professor Brockhoff co-authored around 90 peer reviewed scientific papers, 2 books and 5 pieces of software, with more than 4000 citations. His H-index is 32 (Google Scholar). The books are both on Sensometrics:  Statistics for Sensory and Consumer Science (with T. Næs and O. Tomic, John Wiley Sons, 2010), and Nonparametrics  for Sensory Science: A More Informative Approach (with J.C.W. Rayner, D.J. Best and G.D. Rayner, Blackwell Publishing, USA, 2005). He is an Elected member of ISI (2005), was member of the editorial board of international journal Food Quality and Preference (2009-2010) and currently member of the editorial board of the international journal: Journal of Chemometrics. Since 2004 Professor Brockhoff has been involved in numerous externally funded projects (initiating more than one project pr year), supervising 9 PhD projects and co-supervised another 6. Professor Brockhoff has 25 years of academic and industrial teaching experience (involved in more than 100 courses) and supervised more than 20 master projects and during these 25 years been giving on average 3-4 presentations pr. year in all parts of the World. Per Bruun Brockhoff is teaching in introductory statistics together with more advanced statistics courses in,for instance, multivariate data analysis/chemometrics (in collaboration with DTU Biosys) and advanced analysis of variance methods. Moreover, he offers special course in Sensometrics for as well academia as the industry.
