Ioannis A. Fotidis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Denmark. He received his PhD diploma in Agricultural Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He has also received two Masters of Science and a Master of Engineering for bioenergy, waste management and agricultural ecology and genetics, respectively. His main research field is anaerobic digestion. Specifically, research on different biomethanation processes, anaerobic microbial ecology, biorefineries, biomethanation inhibitors and optimization of the anaerobic digestion of ammonia-rich substrates using advanced microbiological methods (e.g. bioaugmentation). Furthermore, he has a background in crop genetics, cultivation and fertilization as well as in plantation ecology. Finally, he has participated in national (e.g. Energinet.dk, The Danish Council for Independent Research) and international (e.g. Seven Framework Program, Interreg IV) funded scientific projects.
