The 10. Baltic Sea Science Congress is held in Riga, Latvia, 15-19 June 2015.
Themes
Under a generic headline “Science and innovation for future of the Baltic and the European regional seas”, the Baltic Sea Science Congress 2015 will cover seven broad titles:
- Coastal seas – towards a better understanding.
- A healthy marine ecosystem: how to measure it?
- Keeping climate change in focus: ecosystem impacts, mitigation and adaptation measures.
- Observation, monitoring and forecasting of the Baltic Sea’s status: The new generation.
- Spatial marine ecology in support of ecosystem-based management.
- Just ice and stones? – Updates of geological research in the Baltic Sea area.
- A viable ecosystem for a sustainable society.
In addition to the usual theme sessions the organisers plan several key note speeches by the world-renown scientists, and a dedicated programme for the early carrier researchers.
Organisers
The Congress is hosted by Latvian Academy of Sciences and Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology and is an official event of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Co-organisers of the congress are BONUS, Baltic Marine Biologists, Conference of Baltic Oceanographers, Baltic Marine Geologists and the Estuarine Coastal Sciences Association.
