Areas of expertise

My research examines the impacts of climate change and climate variability on
life in the ocean and attempts to predict future changes. The key to this
challenge is elucidating how the physical and biological aspects of marine
systems are linked, and thereby understand the changes that we have seen thus
far. I combine this knowledge with projections of the future physical
environment to make predictions across a range of timescales, from seasonal
and decadal scales to climatic scales.
