“This programme is about so much else than just research, a type of pan-European mobilization of all sorts of stakeholders behind the shared goal of restoring our oceans and waters, with science as the glue. In short, I think we succeeded in demonstrating the Danish approach to collaboration, and capacity to grasp and operationalize the logic of the Mission. Consolidating Denmark as first class actor in this field, is a milestone which I think all participating institutions should be proud of to have lifted together. A collaboration which will only increase with the further development of the National Mission hub in the next phase of the Mission," says Christian Riisager-Simonsen.

According to the project leaders of EU Mission Coean the national collaboration will now be continued under the DK Ocean Hub. And responsibles at national, sea Basin and EU levels will start the proces of scaling efforts and strengthen collaboration, including future knowledge exchanges during upcoming Presidencies in Cyprus and Ireland and Ocean Days in spring 2026.
