Data and maps of the seafloor footprint of Danish fishing from the years before 2021 can be accessed here:
These data and maps have not been calculated with the new and improved method used in the mapping tool from 2021 and onwards.
In the new method, among other things, the very coastal fisheries are more precisely estimated and the spatial resolution (the pixel size) has been changed from 100 x 100 meters to approx. 60 x 100 meters.
For the areas North Sea-Skagerrak, Kattegat, Belt Sea and Baltic Sea, the improved precision only results in marginal deviations between estimates from the two methods (below 1 percentage point), while in the Wadden Sea the greater precision in the improved method results in an increase in the annual fisheries footprint of approx. 6 percentage points.
