Survey
Havfisken on fieldwork in Kattegat, off Grenå and in the southern Belt Sea
During the survey, preliminary studies are being conducted to investigate what happens to marine life in areas that are closed to fishing with bottom‑trawling gear.
From 9 to 28 May 2026, the research vessel Havfisken is conducting fieldwork in the Kattegat between Læsø and Anholt, off Grenå, and in the southern Belt Sea.
During the survey, preliminary studies are being carried out for a project investigating what happens to marine life and seabed habitats when areas—following a political agreement from 2025—are closed to fishing with bottom-trawling gear.
Samples will be collected from the seabed and of the organisms living both in and on the seabed, and in areas associated with those to be closed to the use of bottom-trawling gear. The study collects data before the ban comes into effect, making it possible later to assess the impacts of the prohibition on trawling.
The investigations are part of the PReMaH project, carried out in collaboration between DTU, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS), the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and the University of Copenhagen (KU).
